Liceo appears as a striking ball of fire, creating a dramatic lighting effect that brings grandeur to the most demanding spaces. It was conceived for the reconstruction project of Barcelona’s opera house in 1999, following the devastating fire of 1994, which burned for two hours and left only the original walls from 1847 intact.The lamp contains a large light source at its base that projects powerful indirect illumination upward. Its shade is a large hollow sphere made of fireproof bronze mesh, hand-crumpled and anchored to a steel frame.
